Description
Specifies exact pronunciation using a phonetic alphabet. The alphabet tag specifies which alphabet to use, which can be "ipa", "worldbet", "xsampa" or a browser-specific value. The ph attribute specifies the phonemes using the given alphabet.

The value of the tag (text enclosed within the tag) provides alternative text which can be used by a graphical browser, for example. A VoiceXML browser will ignore the value or might use the value in the event that the requested alphabet is unsupported (the proposed VoiceXML 2.0 standard does not specify how alternative text should be used).
